I think deep down everyone loves a good conspiracy theory, a spy thriller or a controversial revelation.
They’re edgy, exciting and above all else; they’re very interesting. The one downside is that they can be a little complex for the younger enthusiast to grasp. Politics, military jargon and historical background is all too overwhelming and ‘dark’ for a nine year old.
So today, I’m going to share with you some terrific spy websites for kids
TopSpySecrets.com
This is a really cool website for kids over the age of 10 or 11. For starters, it’s easy to navigate and written in plain, simple English. I also really like how some words, names etc, are blackened out to give a feel of authenticity for the kids.
The site is chock full of stimulating games, activities and challenges that kids would love. Just a few examples include setting up your bedroom so that ‘enemies’ rooting around through their belongings is easily recognizable, code breaking exercises and even how to make spy ‘gadgets’.
Kids also get a free eBook when they subscribe which is aimed at ‘spies’ aged thirteen and over.
FBI - Kid’s Page!
The FBI have set up a section of their website aimed at kids from Kindergarten right up to 12th grade. The site is split in two with easier ‘challenges’, missions and flash games for kids up to 5th grade and the remainder being for kids up to the 12th grade.
The first thing I’d like to mention about the FBI Kid’s page is that they’ve put up a lot of interesting information about the Bureau such as a ‘Day in the Life’ of an agent, the history of the FBI and how they investigate crimes and security threats, all geared for young users.

There’s also some great info up there such as their children's ‘Safety Guide’. Things such as what to do if a child gets separated from their parents, staying safe when out with friends and even an educational guide about the dangers of playing with parent’s guns/firearms should they unintentionally be left lying around, are all available.
All in all the site is a fun and educational spy websites for kids. It is however a little buggy and from the number of typos I spotted, I’m willing to bet it isn’t updated much!
National Geographic Geo Spy
This is a neat flash game website that teaches kids basic geography. Starting off kids must enter their first name and complete and assignment to become and official ‘agent’. They can choose to identify countries on any continent, states in the US, capital cities and provinces.

The look and feel of the site is quite spy-esque and the available print-off study materials are really good too.
A fully-fledged spy websites for kids it is not, but a stimulating geography lesson that interests and excites kids it most certainly is!
PBS Kids
Another cool site to get kids active and participating in the spy community! Aimed at younger kids it has some cool print off ‘detective kits’, a ‘vault’ which kids and send in their findings such as mysterious objects and discoveries and a history section which teaches kids about significant historical events through the eyes of the spies!
They also have some fun games for kids such as ‘Guess the year’ which allows them to sift through time vaults and find out what year they’re from.
CIA for Kids
Again, another great resource from the nations most well-known spy agency. For younger kids they have plenty of games, fun facts and information about what it is the CIA do.

They also have entertaining articles about the different sections of the CIA including their K-9 unit and a neat ‘roll-over’ feature educated youngsters on the CIA’s ‘seal’ or logo.
For older kids there’s a lot more education information which would be great for those who take an interest in the intelligence community, doing school reports and even for older kids who may like a career in the CIA when leaving college.
