In a 21-minute audio recording, titled ‘We Are All Osama”, Hamza bin Laden has pledged that Al-Qaeda will continue to fight the US and its allies, as stated by an organization known as SITE Intelligence Group, which traces the activities of jihadi and white supremacist groups online.
During the audio statement, Hamza bin Laden is noted to have issued the following warning:
“We will continue striking you and targeting you in your country and abroad in response to your oppression of the people of Palestine, Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Somalia and the rest of Muslim lands that did not survive your oppression. As for revenge by the Islamic nation for Sheikh Osama, may Allah have mercy on him, it is not revenge for Osama the person but it is revenge for those who defended Islam” (1).
As a report in The Independent states, Hamza was with his father in Afghanistan prior to 9/11. Hamza is believed to have spent time with his father in Pakistan following the United States’ invasion of Afghanistan, which forced many of the key al-Qaeda leaders out of Afghanistan and into countries like Pakistan.
Is Hamza Alive?
Hamza bin Laden is now in his mid-twenties. As an earlier report in the Independent noted, Hamza’s body was not among those found after the top secret CIA raid on bin Laden’s compound in Pakistan (2). It was during this secret operation by US forces that Osama bin Laden was killed.
Bruce Riedel of the Brookings Institution describes how Hamza offers a younger voice for the militant group, compared to the organization’s ageing leaders who have struggled to inspire radicals across the globe.
“Hamza provides a new face for Al-Qaeda, one that directly connects to the group’s founder. He is an articulate and dangerous enemy,” warns Riedel.
Hamza is the son of Osama bin Laden’s third wife, who is believed to have been killed in the CIA raid on the Pakistan compound in 2011.
Documents that were recovered from the compound following the attack and later released by the White House reveal that aides had attempted to reunite Osama bin Laden with his son Hamza while Hamza had been under house arrest in Iran.
Groomed by His Father
Evidence shows how Hamza was groomed by his father for jihadist purposes since a young age.
For example, when he was just ten years old, Hamza appeared in a propaganda produced by al-Qaeda in Afghanistan.
Following the death of Saad bin Laden, Hamza’s older brother in 2009 during a US drone strike, Hamza became the likely heir to the terrorist group.
As an article in the IB Times points out, in 2008, the conservative MP, Patrick Mercer, described Hamza as being the “crown prince of terror” (3).
As Top Secret Writers reported, following Osama bin Laden’s death, a series of conspiracy theories have surfaced accusing Barack Obama and the US government of fabricating the former al-Qaeda’s leader’s death (4).
The threatening and chilling new audio message that threatens revenge against the US for the killing of the former al-Qaeda leader somewhat thwarts the theory that the US fabricated the killing of Osama bin Laden. It also provides a chilling illustration that Hamza bin Laden may become the new face of terrorism.
